Material Mastery in Painting & Drawing (ages: 10-13)

8 week, starting Jan 7, Tuesdays 4:00pm-6:00pm
In this course, students work with a variety of drawing and painting medium to create their own artwork each class. The course overviews the foundation of using the materials and expressing it by review line, shape, value, scale, and composition. The first half focuses on different drawing mediums and the second focuses on one painting project. Instructor feedback is given, and group discussion is encouraged. Linocut- No Press Bed Needed

This workshop reviews the relief printmaking process using a linoleum block (linocut). This one day session guides through the steps of sketching, carving, inking, and printing an image, while reviewing the materials and tools. This workshop is designed as an introduction to linocut. Evelyn Harvey is an artist and enjoys teaching the visual arts. She currently works with a variety of organizations to bring art to the community. She received her BFA in painting from Pratt Institute and MFA in painting from SCAD.

Relief Printmaking

Using linoleum blocks, carve your own image. This course guides you through the steps of sketching, carving, inking, and printing. This course offers exploration in relief image making, creating a single color and multi-color prints, while reviewing printmaking skills and techniques. Evelyn is an art educator teaching art courses and workshops at organizations in Connecticut (Carriage Barn Arts Center, Silvermine Arts Center, and Rowayton Arts Center). Evelyn teaches a variety of mediums, working with beginner level to intermediate. When teaching, her hope is to encourage creative thought and process, even when reviewing the foundations Evelyn wants to inspire your own artistic voice. Evelyn received her BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute and MFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design.

Beginner Drawing

A beginner drawing class designed to develop basic drawing skills to create a three dimensional illusion onto a flat surface using drawing tools and paper. The class explores line expression, line variation, scale and proportion, depth, composition, and value to render an image. Utilizing a still life to draw from and instructor demonstrations, student implement these drawing skills into their own work. Linocut – Valentine's Day Cards

This seasonal themed workshop reviews the relief printmaking process to create hand printed Valentine's Day cards! Evelyn values creativity, individuality, skills, expression and freedom. It is the goal to instill these values in her teaching to create an environment of diverse and critical thought, experimentation, and decision making.
Evelyn can work with you one on one to expand artistic skills, review materials, art mediums, and portfolio development.
An email is sent (at least) quarterly sharing courses and workshops Evelyn is instructing for each academic season, or for any new class availability and events.
Workshops are a single class program or a mini series reviewing a medium of art and/or creating with the goal of finishing a project within that session.
Discover the Possibilities of Printmaking! (ages: 10-13)

Discover the many possibilities of printing without a press! This printmaking process uses the gel plate to create unique one off prints. Without needing a press, students ink and transfer images onto the gel plate to then print on paper. This process is highly explorative and offers many different outcomes. Students work through different inking techniques, layer image making, and stenciling. Demonstration are given with one on one feedback in a fun and supportive environment. Acrylic Painting for All Levels

In this class, both artists new to acrylics and those more experienced will learn new and effective ways to work with this medium. For students new to acrylics, Evelyn will go over setting up a palette, using various painting tools and products, determining and mixing colors, and the steps to creating a final image. For those more experienced with this medium, Evelyn will help to refine your skills and guide you through compositional and design decisions.
